Guest Post - by DH

Yes, this idea of DH (Dear Hubby) writing a guest post on BiB blog occurred when we were watching the movie “Pride and Prejudice”. See here for more details.

While watching the movie it hit me strongly and I commented “You are so much like Elizabeth Bennet”! She was thrilled to hear this comment and insisted that I write about it. Sometime back she had told me that this book had a great influence on her growing up and it is possible that she has (subconsciously or unconsciously) fashioned herself on the lines of this interesting character. You will see for yourself how much BiB is like Elizabeth Bennet ;-)

Elizabeth Bennet is an intelligent young woman, with a lively, playful disposition, and delighted in any thing ridiculous. This is so true for BiB! She is intelligent…not the nerdy kinda intelligent but quick witted, street-smart (save your ass) kind. She is very lively…you should see her dance! Delighted in any thing ridiculous….I can definitely say that about Twilight/ New Moon Movie! She is as ridiculous as a silly teenager ;-) I have a priceless video of one such incident ;-)

Elizabeth Bennet often presents a playful good natured (non-offensive) impertinence. This is so true for BiB. Her impertinence is more for her own entertainment than others. She uses this well (sometimes) to extract work/ information ;-)

Elizabeth Bennet is personally proud of her mental quickness and her acuity in judging the social behaviour and intentions of others. Completely agree here…I am not very sure if BiB is proud but she definitely has this talent. And this talent was very handy for her when she was growing in a place like Mumbai. She wanted to study Psychology and I am sure she would have excelled. she is good at grilling and asking revealing questions

Both Elizabeth Bennet and BiB are as stubborn as a donkey! Don’t force her to do anything against her will. But like the fictional character, she ends up loving the very thing she hates in the beginning. I can probably count hundreds of examples but takes a lot of convincing and cajoling to get there ;-)

Within her neighborhood, Elizabeth Bennet is considered a local beauty and charming, with "fine eyes", which is the first feature Mr. Darcy (the Hero of the story) is drawn to. Anyone who has met BiB can attest this is true. No wonder, BiB was one of the most sought after girls in college. I am very glad I met her and married her against all odds. I can’t be any luckier!
